Your Support Makes This Work Possible

Every donation to Project PAINT directly supports creative opportunities for incarcerated people and helps sustain arts education programs rooted in care, dignity, growth and self-expression. With your support, we are able to provide consistent, high-quality programming inside of Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility and Centinela State Prison while continuing to grow our impact.

Help Sustain Project Paint's Mission

Your Gift Helps Us:

Expand arts education inside prison classrooms. Donations allow us to offer interdisciplinary visual arts programming that spans painting, design, comics, exhibition making and more, which supports creative exploration and personal growth.

Support Teaching Artists and trauma-informed practice. Your support ensures Teaching Artists are equipped with fair compensation, professional development opportunities, and resources including training that strengthens social and emotional learning and care-centered teaching approaches.

Provide essential art materials. Gifts help maintain a reliable materials budget so every participant has access to the tools they need to fully engage in the creative process.

Preserve and honor participant artwork. Donations sustain the ongoing archiving of participant work, ensuring artworks are thoughtfully documented, preserved, and shared through exhibitions, publications, and public engagement opportunities, honoring the voices of incarcerated artists.

Strengthen long-term program sustainability. Community support helps Project PAINT build the organizational capacity needed to sustain programs, grow responsibly, and remain responsive to the needs of artists, teaching staff, and partners.

Why Give

As a small nonprofit, we rely directly on the generosity of our community that believes in arts, access, and justice. Support from donors has already helped Project PAINT reach hundreds of participants across multiple facilities and yards, and share their work with broader audiences. Your gift ensures that Project PAINT can continue to foster a space for creativity, reflection, and connection where it is needed most.

All donations are tax-deductible through our fiscal sponsor, the William James Association. Donations can be made through the GoFundMe campaign shared on this page, or directly to WJA, with a gift note of “Project PAINT”.

Thank you for standing with us and believing in the transformative power of art in our participants' lives. We can’t wait to share what we create together in the year ahead!

With gratitude,
The Project PAINT team
